Super SAM

Super Sam stop was intended as a part of city’s street furniture, which, apart from useful functions, should commemorate large shop – Super Sam – which opened in 1962 and was designed by the team of Jerzy Hryniewiecki, Maciej Krasiński, Ewa Krasińska. The Super Sam building for over 40 years was a famous example of modernistic Warsaw architecture.

Its history ends in 2002 with the reconstruction of Plac Unii Lubelskiej.Distinctive, structurally perfect roof of the building became an inspiration for a public transportation stop design dedicated for this area, also including a covered bicycle parking and a street café. The design refers to surface finish and models of the built-in fixtures distinctive for Super Sam.
